Cover photo: July is the month of Gion Matsuri Festival in Kyoto. Although the origin of the festival lies in the fact that the emperor tried to subdue the epidemic that occurred in the 9th century by special prayers made at Yasaka Shrine, ironically, Kyoto had to refrain from holding the full-scale festival for the past two years. However, this living symbol of Kyoto and resilience is returning this year in 2022!
