About KYOTO VISITOR’S GUIDE

A guide to experience Kyoto - Japan's Ancient Capital

Since July 1987, KYOTO VISITOR’S GUIDE (KVG) has been favored by a number of international visitors to Kyoto as a highly useful, informative and educational English guide.

In those days, no such an English guide existed in Kyoto, - a copy of KVG was a must for every international tourist in order to fully enjoy and understand the city: detailed color maps of most of the main areas of Kyoto and its surrounding areas, excellent information on accommodation, shopping and dining, a complete monthly listing of what is on at Kyoto's temples, shrines, museums, theaters and other important cultural institutions.

However, in the early 2020, KVG had no choice but decided to take a cease of publishing this long-loved and -needed magazine due to the travel restrictions caused by the world-wide spread of COVID-19. In March 2021, KVG has made its new start which presents the magazine’s new style and renewed central concept.

Kyoto is limitless and has so much to offer. KVG will continue to share stories about this beautiful, resilient city and her people.

京都の歳時記、歴史、社寺仏閣、食、美術工芸、そしてそこに生きる人々―。 KYOTO VISITOR’S GUIDE は1987年7月、京都を訪れる外国人観光客に、もっと深く、不便を少なく京都を楽しんでもらいたい、という思いから生まれた英文観光情報誌です。

日本や京都の文化を掘り下げた記事やエッセイ、京都のさまざまな分野で活躍する人へのインタビューに加えて、市内や近隣地域の詳細マップ、宿泊・飲食・ショッピングスポットの一覧、社寺、ミュージアム、劇場などでの見逃せない催事情報など、その月の京都を楽しむのに欠かせない情報が満載の KVG を手に、京都の街を楽しんだ旅行者の数は数えきれません。

2020年春、新型コロナウイルスの影響による厳しい渡航制限が発令されたことによる社会の変容を鑑み、休刊を余儀なくされた期間を経て、2021年3月に新たなコンセプトとスタイルで再開しました。

世界中の人々を魅了し、人々が恋しがるものが京都から尽きることがありません。KVG はこれからもこの美しく、強い街から生まれるたくさんのストーリーを伝え続けます。
